Description
Brazilian horror film director Jose Mojica Marins stars here as himself, whose attempts at solitude away in the country with his family, to work on a script for his next movie, is interrupted when his alter-ego, Coffin Joe, shows up to wreak havoc – aided by a local witch. Weird and unnatural events seem to plague Marin’s from the very start of his journey and rarely let up: books leap off shelves; snakes and tarantula’s are found on the Christmas tree; the family’s pet dog is discovered dead; Grandpa gets possessed and so does the gardener, who proceeds to chase Marin’s with an axe! All of this eventually leads to Marin’s confrontation with his alter ego in the bowels of hell during the films entertaining climax, but not before a bunch of damned souls are seen being tortured to death in a variety of gory ways (hands amputated; tongue ripped out; etc.) NOTE this print is B/W There’s meant to be a colour version but haven’t seen one as yet.
